The hedgehog house made of CeraNatur® ceramic offers hedgehogs a protected place to rest, hibernate, and raise their young. The sturdy construction with a separate entrance tunnel creates a sheltered retreat and can be used all year round.
The CeraNatur® ceramic used is particularly durable, climate-regulating, and capable of storing heat. The material is resistant to moisture and supports a hygienic environment, as it is not prone to rot or mold. A 15-year warranty is provided for the material quality.
The hedgehog house can withstand a load of up to 200 kg and can therefore be easily covered with a protective layer of soil, leaves, and branches.
To ensure the hedgehog house blends harmoniously into its surroundings, it should be covered with soil, grass sod, leaves, and branches after setup. This natural layer supports insulation, provides camouflage, and makes it difficult for potential predators to track down or dig up the nest. The entrance area remains clear.
The separate entrance tunnel creates a protected access to the shelter and helps ensure that hedgehogs and their young find as undisturbed a sanctuary as possible.
The hedgehog house can be used both during hibernation and in the warmer months. In summer, it provides a suitable protected area where hedgehogs can raise their offspring.
A quiet, dry, and level spot in the garden is suitable for placement. The site should not be in a depression so that rainwater can drain away reliably. Before setup, grass or existing leaves under the house should be removed and the dome placed directly on the soil.
Next, the entrance tunnel is carefully inserted into the designated opening. The shelter can then be covered with the natural materials.
Thorough cleaning should generally only take place after hibernation, when the hedgehog house is no longer occupied. The robust ceramic can be cleaned with dish soap and a brush. A steam cleaner can also be used for a particularly thorough cleaning.
